A Nostalgic Indulgence: My Visit to the Chocolate Apothecary in Ryde

There’s something truly magical about stepping into a space that feels frozen in time—and the Chocolate Apothecary in Ryde, Isle of Wight, is exactly that kind of place. The moment I walked in, I was completely charmed by the Victorian-style decor, the beautifully preserved period cabinets, and the rich scent of handcrafted chocolate that seemed to wrap around me like a warm embrace.

:The décor is a vintage lover’s dream. Every cabinet in the shop has a story of its own—rescued from shops across the UK, carefully restored, and brought together to create this charming chocolate haven. The counter itself was once part of an old bar, cleverly upcycled, and features from a cellar door to complete its new purpose. The owner has done a fine job sourcing and reimagining these unique pieces, giving the space a true old-world feel with a soul of its own.

Each cabinet was filled with small-batch, handmade chocolates—displayed like rare, edible treasures. I couldn’t contain my delight. It was as though I had stumbled into a confectionery time capsule, and every detail around me whispered stories of the past.

And of course, a special thank you to the owner for being so welcoming and allowing me to take these photos. It’s not just the surroundings or the chocolate that make this place special—it’s the warm hospitality and personal touches that linger long after your last sip. If you love timeless decor and spaces with a story, hand-made delicious treats, the Chocolate Apothecary is a must-visit. It’s more than just a shop—it’s an experience that speaks to the heart.

To match the charm of the space, I wore a 1930s-style floral wrap dress from Dig For Vintage, a beautiful vintage store based right here in Ryde that I proudly collaborate with. Styled by me, this dress—with its soft silhouette and delicate print—blended seamlessly with the apothecary’s ambience. Accessories wide-brimmed hat and shoes to match. The signature red lipstick completed the look.
