The Vintage Picnic gave us a glimpse of what happens when people who love the past find a place to meet in the present. I want that feeling to live beyond a single event.
That is the idea behind The Vintage Society JA: a space for fashion, heritage, music and experiences that give us a reason to dress up and gather. Together, we can celebrate Black and Caribbean stories while creating new memories of our own.
Why Terra Nova?
Terra Nova opened on Waterloo Road in 1959. Its Garden Wing and pool terrace followed in 1975, and the Grand Ballroom and conference centre opened in 1993. For more than six decades, this Kingston landmark has been a place to gather and celebrate. Its old-world character feels fitting for a Society rooted in heritage and a sense of occasion. Gather with us on Sunday, 4 October
Our first member gathering is on Sunday, 4 October 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel in Kingston. We’ll talk about the Society’s direction, the experiences you would like to see and how members can help bring them to life.
I’ll also listen for interest in a small working committee to support our plans. Your ideas are welcome whether or not you want a formal role.
Dress for Old-World Charm in cream or beige with a touch of green. Vintage-inspired pieces are welcome.
